We keep it minimal. We log which products people click on (with the rate shown at the time) to keep our comparisons accountable - but no names, no accounts, no IP addresses. Your postcode, if you enter one, is used only to filter energy plans and lives in the page address, not our database.

The one cookie we set

When you enter a postcode on an energy page, we store it in a cookie called cm_pc on your device so your next visit starts where you left off. It contains your postcode and nothing else - no identifier, no tracking, and it's never sent anywhere but back to us. It lasts one year. Click the × on the "saved" postcode chip to delete it instantly, and the site works exactly the same without it.

Rate Watch

What we collect: your email address, your watch settings (the category, your alert level or the rate you told us you're currently paying, and any filters you had applied), and a log of which alerts we sent you. That's the entire list.

Why: solely to send the alerts you asked for. We don't use your address for anything else - no newsletters, no "offers", nothing.

Never sold. Your email is not given to providers or advertisers. The only other party that handles it is the email service that delivers your alerts.

Retention: unsubscribing deletes your email, your watches and your alert history immediately - not "within 30 days", immediately. Watches you never confirm are purged automatically after 7 days.

No tracking: our emails are plain text - no tracking pixels, no per-link click tracking, no read receipts.

Delete everything: every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe link that removes it all, or write to [email protected] and we'll do it by hand.
