How we get paid

The lowest rate wins. That's the whole algorithm.

Default rankings sort by each category's own cost figure - comparison rate for loans, total rate for deposits, estimated annual cost for energy - and ties break by the fixed, published chain on our data page.

LookFirst is free to use. Some providers may pay us a commission if you take out a product after clicking through.

Here's what that does and doesn't mean:

It never changes the data. Rates, fees and product details come from what each provider publishes under the Consumer Data Right. We show the same data for providers who pay us and providers who don't.

It never changes the order. Rankings sort by rates and fees, never by commission. Any sponsored placement is labelled "Sponsored" and never reorders your results.

It never decides who is listed. Whether a provider pays us has no bearing on whether it appears here. LookFirst does not compare every provider or product in the market.
